It rained heavily around mid-night and then it rained steadily the rest of the night.  We woke to the sound of rain and knew that the mothers would not venture out in the rain so we sort of had a “free” day.   We decided to sort through the plumbing supplies and label all the PVC elbow, couplers, and connectors and separate them into baskets of the same size.  It will make our next plumbing job so much easier.  After we finished the plumbing stuff Steve started on the electrical supplies.

Divine called and said that his wife Gladys had to slaughter our other small pig and wanted to know if we wanted the meat.  NO!  Excuse me she killed the pig last night and they live in a village with no electricity and no means of keeping the meat cool!  No thank you!  He then asked if we wanted to keep the meat for the seminar at the end of November.  No thanks again!  We still cannot use meat that has not been refrigerated; especially in this heat.  Divine did not understand our fear of the meat.  Of course the Ghanaians have some more immune system and the meat probably would not have hurt them but we just can’t take that chance.  We decided that we needed to go ahead and kill the pigs we bought for the seminar and put them in the freezer rather than risking them getting sick.  We plugged in the big freezer and it seems to be cooling well.  We put a bunch of water in the freezer.  We will use the frozen water to cool the meat when we kill the pigs on Saturday.

Divine failed his driving test.  He said that the man failed him because of the signs.  Then the man told him that if he wanted to pass the test he should have seen him before he took the test which means he should have given him a gift before the test to insure that he passed the test.  Divine was offered that way out when he applied for his license several weeks ago but did not want to take that route.  He is to go back on the 11th and try again.  He will be better prepared the next time around.  He was disappointed and annoyed!

Simeon, the young man that is clearing a road on the back side of the property returned this afternoon to continue the work.  We were surprised to see him because we thought he was not coming back for 2 weeks.  He said that he already sent the money to his future father-in-law.  I guess things are moving forward with his marriage plans.

Thanks for your help.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
