Red stopped by this afternoon; he finished the grates for the wall. I asked him if we should come and pick them up but he said we should wait for a day or two to make sure the paint was fully dried. He also picked up the money for the supplies to make the “t” posts that will hold the razor wire. Most of them were broken and they were very rusty; we decided to make new ones instead of having to fool around with the old ones. While he was here, we offered him the recliner that keeps you captive. He was very excited to have it; he is confident that he will be able to fix it. He did what everyone else does; he sat down in it and pulled out the foot rest and that was the end of the story! He had to crawl out of the chair! We warned him but he had to check it out for himself! Steve loaded it into the back of the pickup and delivered it to his house.

When we went for our walk this morning we met our neighbor Mr. Oldman. We were happy to see him because we needed dish soap. His daughter makes dish soap and sells it. We ordered 3 gallons but the only scent that she had ready-made was the one that smells like hospital disinfectant! Not a fan of that scent; I don’t want my dishes to smell medicinal! It might make me think I was sick! That soap does not have any disinfectant properties; she just adds that scent to it. Later this afternoon, her brother (cousin) brought the soap to the mission house.

I cleaned out the refrigerator freezer and found some long lost out of date freezer burned items that had been forgotten. It looks much better; I was making room for frozen leg quarters. They come in 22-pound boxes. We buy the whole box not because we have to buy a full box but because once they break the box open, they put the chicken in the freezer with the frozen fish that is also always not in sealed boxes. Fishy flavored chicken is just so wrong in so many ways! It’s just “ain’t” right!

We got the spare room in the main house cleaned out just in case one of the air conditioners goes out, we will have a place to sleep in the cool. The spare room is where the empty suitcases landed when we came back to Ghana last month.

Divine, the evangelist /farmer, called this afternoon. He said that a couple of the ladies in his village had firewood to sell and he wanted to know if we needed it for the seminar. We need the firewood but we do not need it on the seminar grounds right now. If we dumped it there now by the time the seminar rolled around, we would have none left. We paid for the firewood and the ladies are going to keep it in Divine’s village until we need it.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support!

The Monkeyshines

The parents finally got the “cat” tunnel hung in my condo! Actually, it looks pretty good; they did not put it on the ground; they hung it as high in the tree as Dad could reach! He was at the tip top of the ladder! I sort of like it so I am not going to call it a “cat” tunnel; from now on I am going to refer to it as the “monkey” tunnel! Mom put the “monkey” tunnel on the ground under the big mango tree so I could get used to it. I actually enjoyed playing in it but I was always on a leash and the leash kept getting tangled as I made laps in and out of the tunnel. This tunnel has 3 smaller tunnels that are joined in the middle. In the middle is a hole so I can stick my head out of it and look around! I am excited to try the tunnel out when I am not wearing a leash! My condo looks better and better all the time! I have the fanciest living quarters of any monkey I know! If the truth be known, my condo is fancier than the houses many people live in!

When Mom was digging in the freezer, she found some treats for me too! She found a guava (a perfumy type fruit with lots of seeds), dehydrated apples, cheese and boiled yams. I think she should clean out the freezer more often!

Not all food that is out of date will kill you! I am living proof of that!

Love, Skeeter the scavenger!
