We were almost late for worship service this morning due to the slowness of our hotel folks in Kumasi.  The hotel where we stayed wasn’t far from the church building which allowed us to make it on time.  We had planned to worship at the Accra Road congregation but when we talked with Sister Comfort Obeng she requested that we attend services at her congregation; Bomso.  This is the congregation that Kandie and her family attended when Royce was a missionary living in Kumasi some 47 years ago. They have an English worship service in the old meeting house and the main church building is used for the local Twi (pronounce Chree) language service.

After worship services were completed everyone was asked to go to the main building where there was a Thanksgiving service in honor of Brother Samuel Obeng, the deceased, conducted by the Bomso Elders.  During the service there was a request for unity in the Church in Ghana using Brother Samuel as the example.  It was nice to hear them tell of all the things Bother Samuel had done down through the years in the name of Christ.  He was a humble man not wishing to take credit for the work of the Lord that he had done. Brother Samuel is going to be sorely missed in Ghana.

The thanksgiving service was wrapped up shortly after noon.    We said our “good byes” to Sister Comfort and the family and headed north in the pickup for Tamale.  It was getting dark when we arrived in Tamale so we are spending the night.  We will then leave in the morning for Yendi. I don’t like to be out on the roads at night unless it is absolutely necessary.

That concludes our travels for today.  We hope you are all doing well and having a good Lord’s Day!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
