We were seriously short-handed in the Child Center this morning. Mr. Iddrisu had to attend a PTA meeting at his children’s school and Zorash was feeling worse today than she did yesterday. She called this evening and told us that she could not come to work tomorrow. She said that she went to the hospital and they gave her some IV fluids and sent her home. She said that she was still very weak. We will have to wait until she comes back to work to find out if the doctor told her what the problem is.

The roofers started putting the flashing around the outside of the roof this afternoon. It was very strange; Abochi the foreman told us that the crew was going to take their lunch break and Steve gave them their “chop money” (lunch money) and they left. They never came back! We were very surprised because they have always come back and worked until 4:00 or 4:30 so we have no idea why they did not come back.

Steve and I started assembling the new air conditioner this afternoon. After much trial and error we finally got the outside unit bolted to a cement slab. We bolt the units to a cement slab to make it more difficult for someone to steal the unit. Some people put wire cages around their units but we opted for bolting it down. It could still be removed but it would be difficult.

While we were in town looking for the rubber grommets to put under the air conditioner to absorb the vibrations we ran into 3 of the church members from Tamanbyia. They wanted to know when we were going to come and visit them. Steve called Timothy to make sure that this coming Sunday was still free before he promised the brothers that we would come for a visit. They were very excited that we were able to come on such short notice.

While we were in town we went to the grain market and bought dried peas for the Child Center. The peas look a lot like black-eyed peas; they are some sort of field pea. They are a great source of protein for the malnourished children.

It was hot again today with a high of 114 degrees and the high heat index was 129 degrees. Wish we could send some of the warm weather your way!

Take care and keep us and the work in your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
