The air conditioner man did not show up again today. Steve called him and he said that he was in the bus on his way to Yendi. He said that he would be able to come to the mission house at 2:00 tomorrow afternoon and connect the unit. We shall see.

This morning a young boy that appeared to be about 12 years old came to the mission house. He is one of the children of a church member at Nakpa. The boy is attending junior high school and needed money to buy some books for school. The boy’s family had the money for the books but someone in their family died and they had to use the money for the funeral. The boy wanted to know if Steve could give him the money he needed for the books. Steve gave the boy the money and told him he could come to the mission house today and work. First he walked around the yard and picked up rubbish while he ate mangos and then he picked up some cement rubble and ate more mangos, finally he cleaned out the gutter around the foundation of the main house while eating mangos. He has had more than his fair share of mangos for the day; he even took a sack full of mangos back to the dorm with him. It seems like a good gig to me!

Abochi the carpenter came this afternoon and we went to town to try and buy the ceiling tiles but they did not have any of the solid white ones. The shop owner is going to order some for us from Tamale. They will be here on Monday. Abochi said that he would start the working on the veranda ceiling on Tuesday. I wish we could have started sooner but at least we are not in danger if it rains.

Abinata, John Kanbonja’s widow, stopped by for a visit this morning. She wanted to know what type of ointment to buy for her daughter’s feet. The weather is so hot and dry that her feet are cracking.

Iddrisu, the double amputee, brought his wife and 9 month old baby boy to see us. Earlier in the week we had sent baby clothes home with him for the baby. We had never met his wife and she wanted to thank us for the gift.

Red and Paul helped take down all the ceiling fans that were damaged by the rain. We took them to Mr. Adams to see if he could save any of them. Of the eight that were bad he could only salvage 4 of them; 4 is better than zero!

Have a great day and thank you so much for all you do for us!

In His Service,
Steve, Kandie and Paul
