The joy we felt 2 weeks ago when we were anticipating the arrival of our daughter and grandchildren was replaced this evening with the sadness of their departure! Things are going to be very quiet around the mission house now that they are gone! We had a grand time while they were here and got so much work done! We worked hard and we played equally hard!
We hired Emmanuel, the guy that drove us to Cape Coast yesterday to drive us around Accra today so we could do some shopping and change money. He arrived at 9:00am and took us to the cultural center. We spent a couple hours walking around; there were lots of shops that we did not get to visit because we found everything that we were looking for and some of us were tired. I personally wanted to look in every shop! Ha! It was very hot today!
On Thursday we bought 2 shirts for Steve and today we bought a dress for me. We needed the clothes because the suitcase that had our clothes and personal effects got left behind in Yendi. Steve and I have been washing out our clothes; I have worn the same dress for the past 3 days! Steve went to the drug store down the road from the hotel and bought us toothbrushes, razors, shaving cream and deodorant. When we went for our walk Saturday, we found a vendor that was selling hair brushes. Friday morning, we combed our hair with a couple of forks! I thought I was Ariel, the mermaid.
After we finished shopping Charity and the boys came back to the hotel and repacked their suitcases. We decided to go to the Lebanese restaurant for “Lupper”. The food was delicious! After we ate, we had a little bit of time to return to the hotel and take a little rest. We got a late check out for Charity and her family so that they could take showers before they got on the plane.
At 6:00pm Emmanuel, the driver came back to the hotel and picked us and all the luggage and took us to the airport. Passengers have to be at the airport in Accra 4 hours before the flight. They had no problem checking their luggage and getting through the passport control and screening. Presently they are waiting at the airport for their plane to leave. They leave at 10:05 tonight.
Steve and I are leaving for Yendi on the first fight in the morning. We will have to be at the domestic airport at 5:30 in the morning.
Please continue to pray for us and our daughter and grandchildren while they travel.
In HIS Service,
Steve, Kandie, Charity, Taylor and Parker
