Red stayed with family during the night so we had him meet us at the hotel this morning for breakfast. It was cloudy with a misting of rain. The last time he met us at the hotel in Tamale it was raining which made it bad for him since he was brought to the hotel on a motorcycle! Jack was happy because Kandie had remembered to buy some brown sugar for him yesterday to be use on his oatmeal for breakfast.
Before we left Tamale Kandie and stopped at the Starlight Pharmacy to buy a few things. For some reason we forgot to bring toothpaste for the trip. As we drove on toward Mole Game Reserve where we planned to spend the night the rain seem to be falling harder and harder. It has been years since we have seen this much rainfall.
We arrived at Mole around 1pm and the rain had stopped. As we were signing in Jack was eager to find out if he could spend the night in the bush to experience Africa. When he was told they were not doing that during the rainy season he tried his best to get the attendant to allow him to walk around in the bush without an armed officer to find the animals. You don’t even want to run up on a big baboon around here without game officer.
Right after we pulled up in the carport provided at the park we found four warthogs laying under a parked pickup truck taking an afternoon snooze where it was dry. I took several photos with my iPhone of the hogs. Kandie was annoyed when she realized that we had forgotten both of our cameras for the trip. I will use my iPhone to get some good photos if I see them.
We plan to head toward the district capital of Wa in the upper Western region tomorrow. Jack went on a safari this afternoon around 3:30. They use a Nissan SUV with seats mounted on top of the roof for the people to ride on. One lady that went out on the safari got some good photos of a wild elephant standing in the road. I’m sure Jack will have some stories to tell as well.
I will close for now and bid you a “Good Day!”
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie, Jack
