This morning in the child center we had several children brought to us that needed more than just good nutrition. One orphan child has had an up and down weight for the past 3 months. We have been questioning the grandmother concerning the feeding habits for the past 2 visits but finally today we asked the right questions. The grandmother has been using a feeding bottle instead of the medicine cup that we give them to feed the child. This allows bacteria to grow because the milk/porridge gets warm which in turns causes the child to have diarrhea. The old woman wants to do good for the child but old ways die hard. Another female infant was brought in without a diaper. I noticed that Zorash laid the child on her stomach to be weighed. The poor little thing had a big boil on her bottom which I noticed immediately. She was still quick to take the kulikulee out of my hand even if she was in pain. I advised the mother to go to the hospital to have the child treated.
One of the first items of business for me this morning was to climb up the ladder to fix one of the security light fixtures on the side of the house. I like to keep the property well lit at night and it has paid off but the rainy season is hard on our outdoor lights and fixtures.
After closing the center we drove up to our fast food place to pick up some lunch. While we were waiting to get our take-a-ways (carry-out) Jack used his phone camera to take some pictures of the inside of the chop bar. The ladies were happy to allow us to take the photos. While we were out I flagged down the man that helps us register our vehicles. He came at 2pm to the compound to pick up some paperwork to renew the green truck VELD.
At 2:30 I headed for Kulkpeni to meet with the evangelists. I stopped on the way to buy some herbicide for the church to use at Kulkpeni and here at the compound. They had sprayed the grasses already at Kulkpeni but I suspect it rained soon after they did it because the coverage wasn’t good at all. The main thrust of today’s class dealt with preparation for the seminar. We also discussed the church registration. The brothers were saying they hoped we had a sunny day tomorrow because we need a good turnout for the class so we can find volunteers to serve in the seminar program. They said this because last month many were not able to attend class due to heavy rain.
That is about it for today. Have a great day!

Stephen & Kandie, Jack
