Jack and I had Shito envy today. Shito is an oily hot pepper sauce that is eaten with everything from rice to yams to Tzed to Fufu to Banku. Shito is pronounced Shee-toe. Mr. Iddrisu and Nazo eat their lunch under the big mango tree every day. Today Mr. Iddrisu’s wife made him the most delicious looking Shito to eat with boiled yams. If Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu had not been eating out of the Shito with their hands Jack and I would have sampled it. Instead we asked what the guys thought was in the Shito. We played around in the kitchen this afternoon and produced a very delicious concoction if I do say so myself. We are going to eat ours with fried yams instead of boiled yams.
Earlier this afternoon Jack rode the motorcycle out to Timothy Niligrini’s house to pick up the table he made for Timothy’s chair. The kids have been wallowing on the table and couple of the screws came loose. It should be an easy fix.
Divine stopped by this afternoon to let us know that the class he has been taking for the past couple weeks finished today. He is learning to teach illiterate Konkomba people to read in their own the language.
The young lady that has a baby with a hair lip came to the Center this morning to let us know that the doctors have arrived in Tamale that will be doing the corrective surgery. She is going to take the baby to Tamale tomorrow. She is more than excited about the prospect of getting the baby’s mouth fixed. We gave her the money she will need for transport and food while she is in Tamale. The baby will be in the hospital for 10 days after the surgery.
Aliu, the teenager that we helped get a prosthesis a couple years ago stopped by for a visit. It is time for him to go back to Nsawam and get his prosthesis refitted and new straps made. Steve gave him the transport money he will need to go back and forth to Nsawam. Without your generosity we would not be able to help these people so thank you very much for your help.
Take care and have a great day!
In His Service,
Jack, Steve and Kandie
