We were very low on children’s liquid acetaminophen (Tylenol) and multivitamins this morning so a large part of the morning was spent opening the bottles of each liquid and pouring half into bottles in between seeing the babies. We do this to help limit the amount of acetaminophen the mothers can give. Sometimes mothers bring their babies to the Center after they received an immunization without anything for pain so we try to help with that situation.
Two young ladies brought a set of twins, or so I thought were twins, to the Center today. I was saddened to find out these babies were actually triplets and one of the babies had died. They have been coming for over a month now but today was my first time to see them. The two ladies were the younger sisters of the mother who is in very poor health due to birth complications. I decided to increase the amount of formula given to the babies because the ladies said they were only feeding four times a day. The babies look fine today and I want to keep it that way. Thanks to all of you that make it possible for us to help these children with formula.
For some years now we have had a boy visit the Center that is an albino. His name is Rafic. I remember when this teenager was knee high to a duck and would not keep a hat or long clothing on to keep from getting blistered from the sun. He is now as tall as I am. He came by to get some sun screen this morning. His school uniform requires him to wear short sleeves and short pants so the sun screen with help reduce the sun burns.
The sun was brighter today and you could feel it. The high temperature reached 111oF and 9% humidity. You just get that feeling the days are going to be heating up until the first big rain in a few months.
I was able to get the old van running again today so I switched the battery charger over to the pickup. Later in afternoon I finally got the truck started so I drove it up town to purchase some frozen chicken. Right now the 10kg box costs the equivalent of $20 USD but I look for it to go up. The price of fuel has increased considerably since we left in November.
Later this evening Brother Divine and Bro Joseph from Kpamang came to the compound. They are working on a project to get an earthen dam built near their village so they can have water close by for most if not all the year. They have had a well but it isn’t producing enough for all the people who need it. Some of the other villages send their school children to Kpamang so it is important they have a good water supply.
I try to keep in touch with my wife Kandie as much as I can. Keep her as well as our whole family in your prayers. The prayers are appreciated.
I hope you all are having a good day.
In His service,
Stephen Taylor
